Tungsten cone herring pattern proven!!!

A fabulous charter up in the Merrimack River this morning. We started out fly fishing large herring patterns with two tungsten cones per fly right at first light. We landed one keeper and lost a few others fishing the tailrace up in Lawrence. We then switched gears and jigged for herring to use as live bait. The herring didn't start biting until around 9 o'clock but when they did it was hot and heavy. After catching a couple dozen we moved down river to some favorite holes. The results were awesome with several fish up to 36 inches boated.
